The US Birdedex

A free, Pokédex-style life list for American birds. 1102 species from the AOS and ABA checklists for the 50 states, sorted into five rarity tiers so a Cardinal on the feeder and a Whooping Crane at Aransas score what they deserve.

How it works

Every species has a card with habitat, diet and when to look. Log a sighting and the card lights up. Common birds are worth 1 point, Legendary vagrants 50, and the same species can only score again after a cooldown, so grinding House Sparrows gets you nowhere. Daily games (Birdle, Bird Word, Bird Connections, Bird Call) reset at midnight and feed the leaderboard.

Vagrant status follows the ABA: Accidental (code 5) birds are Legendary, Casual (code 4) are Epic. Introduced species are on the list because they are on your street. Hawaii's native birds are included and flagged.
