What you'll see
October is the legendary period — Buff-breasted Sandpiper, Pectoral Sandpiper, Lesser Yellowlegs, occasional American passerines. East-wind days bring Yellow-browed Warbler, Pallas's, Olive-backed Pipit, sometimes proper megas like Eyebrowed Thrush. Pelagics in early September target Wilson's Petrel + Great Shearwater + Sabine's Gull.
The five inhabited islands (St Mary's, Tresco, Bryher, St Martin's, St Agnes) are walkable / cycle-able. Cars are not allowed on most. The walking-around-finding-your-own-bird culture is integral to the experience.
How to visit
Ferry Scillonian III from Penzance (~2.5 hrs) or Skybus plane from Land's End / Newquay / Exeter. Stay on St Mary's for best access. Book accommodation a year ahead for October.
